Healingherbs and Brazil – the humanitarian friendship

AS SO OFTEN HAPPENS in relation to authors, I got to know Julian Barnard through his books long before I knew him in person. His little book, A Guide to the Bach Flower Remedies [C.W. Daniel, 1979] (the only one I could find in 1989 whilst living in Toronto) actually had such an impact in my life that a few months later, I quit my career as a Chemical Engineer. At that time, the Bach Flower Remedies were just starting to become known in my country, Brazil. It was very difficult even to find them and the literature was also very scarce.
For me, the beginning of the nineties was a period of intense study and search for information about the flower remedies. I have always taken a great interest in knowing more about the plants Dr. Bach had chosen. So, in 1993, finding a copy of The Healing Herbs of Edward Bach [BEP, 1988] by Julian & Martine Barnard, was really a joy and brought another major turning point in my life! This book helped me to start my career as a teacher.
