Aspen, Elm and Cherry Plum flower together and this year Cherry Plum won the race!  This weekend we have brilliant blue skies and the feeling that Spring is coming is intense. The flowers shine so brightly with the joy of the returning light.

Willow shines egg-yolk yellow

We make the Bach remedy Willow from one particular species: Salix vitellina. It has golden bark at this time of year shining brightly with vigour and strength. The Latin word vitellus means egg yolk so the title is both descriptive of the colour and the idea of new life coming in the egg: an early indication of spring. So much of the Willow remedy is about reawakening enthusiasm for life, about renewal and growth after the hardships of winter perhaps.

The sheep just happened to be there watching as I took the photographs!

Gorse in the snow

So we have had some winter here in the U.K. – nothing like that on mainland Europe. The Gorse flowers look brilliant in the snow. A reminder of how Gorse overcomes adversity. But it is strange the way that it begins to flower just when we expect things to be closing down for winter. Life is stirring even when all seems still.
