In this area (Herefordshire) this has not stopped the Wild Roses from blooming with strength and determination as usual. This is in part because of the heavy clay soils which Rosa canina and indeed, most other roses, enjoy. The clay retains moisture when there is little rain. Porous sandy soils soon let the moisture fall through into the aquifer below.
